BREAKING: Peace Corps wins N2bn human rights suit against police, others

The Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) on Thursday won its N2bn Human Rights Suit instituted against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, the Nigerian Police Force and 4 others.

This was even as the presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Gabriel Kolawole also gave a 7-day ultimatum that the National Headquarters of the Corps located at No 57 Iya Abubakar Crescent, off Alex Ekwueme way, opposite Jabi Lake, Jabi, Abuja, be unsealed.

The National Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria, Amb ( Dr. ) Dickson Akoh and 49 other officers of the Corps who were arrested on February 28th, 2017, had approached the court, through their Lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi ( SAN ), seeking redress over their unlawful arrest, detention and brutality.

I want to appreciate God Almighty for allowing this day to break. The Day of Victory, a victorious victory at that. A day that will go into the annals of history like those before it where PEACE CORPS OF NIGERIA has secured series of victories over her oppositions in competent Courts in Nigeria.

Today, the 9th Day of November, 2017 God in His infinite wisdom given to the National Commandant Amb. (Dr.) Dickson A. O. Akoh, his team of Lawyers and Federal High Court Judges secured ANOTHER RESOUNDING VICTORY for PEACE CORPS OF NIGERIA over the Police Force and her allies.

Today, the Police has been ordered to immediately vacate the Sealed Peace Corps Office in Jabi, Abuja and pay damages to the tune of N12.5million.

This Land mark judgement by the Court like others before it, is laudable and has put to rest all sorts of ills making the rounds about the Corps.

I raise my cap for the Judiciary who have refused to be intimidated by anyone or agency no matter how highly placed but stood for the truth.

I give full combatant and rugged compliment to my HERO, my LEADER, my MENTOR, doggedly intelligent, smartly packaged, proactive, handsome, undaunted, peace maker and peace loving National Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria- Amb. (Dr.) Dickson A. O. Akoh and his TEAM of 'Think Tanks' at the Headquarters-DNCs, ANCs, State Commandants etc for a job well done..
